Batyars on Bicycles

Lviv’s popular Batyars on Bicycles retro bike ride returns to the city on 9 June. The event is designed to pay tribute to the city’s past and, especially, the Batyar culture that used to flourish here. In the 19th and 20th Centuries, Lviv Batyars were witty, cocky, adventurous youth that spoke with a special dialect.

Lviv Women’s Cycling Parade

Lviv’s Women’s Cycling Parade has become a Leopolitan tradition and will be held this year for the eighth time. There has been a noticeable increase in cyclists in the city, yet very few are women – only between 12 to 20 percent, depending on the day of the week. There are still many challenges for cyclists in Lviv yet cycling can be very rewarding if you follow the rules of the road and stay calm.

XXX VII Virtuosi Academic Music Festival

The Lviv Philharmonic Society Theatre’s Virtuosi Academic Music Festival is one of Lviv’s greatest cultural-music events. Since 1981, this festival has been a brilliant opportunity for music lovers to hear live performances from some of the world’s most famous classical musicians.

Children’s KinoFest

Since 2014, Children’s KinoFest has supported the creation and dissemination of thoughtful, provocative, and intelligent film for children and teens through its international film festival. The event invites public dialogue and creative action through collective cinematic experiences. It has become the largest and most respected film festival in Ukraine specifically designed for children and their families. Each year the festival screens films from dozens of countries for over 40,000 people in Lviv, Kyiv, and 20 other Ukrainian cities. This year’s festival will take place from 25 May to 3 June.

Garmyder Crafts Festival – Summer Camp Edition

Lviv’s picturesque Horihovyi Hay Park will play host to the creative Garmyder Crafts Festival on the 9-10 June weekend. Ukrainian New Wave. Runaway.

Featuring the best short films by Ukrainian film directors that debuted this year, the Ukrainian New Wave. Runaway. film festival will be held at Lviv’s IMAX cinemas from 7 June. Initiated by the National Oleksandr Dovzhenko Centre in 2012, the festival presents audiences with the finest cinematic works by up-and-coming filmmakers whose works were screened at film festivals worldwide.

Sensational B&B Project

Lviv’s cosy S. Ludkevich Philharmonic Concert Hall will host a concert by Kyiv-based cover band the B&B Project (Bandura & Bayan) on 22 April. The group is famous for their covers of classical and modern songs using Ukrainian folk instruments like the bandura, which is similar to a lute but with 31 to 68 strings, and the bayan, which is a buttoned accordion.

‘Movie Romance’ French Film Festival

Lviv Century Bike Race

The Lviv Century is a major cycling event organised by local clubs both as a social event for cyclists and as a fundraiser for their other activities. On 5 May, cyclists will set out on a 100 km race from city centre. The race will be completed within 10 hours and will feature a number of rest stops along the way, where riders will find food, water, and toilets.
