Golden Lion International Theatre Festival, 1—7 October, theatres across the city

The annual Golden Lion festival is not just a carnival but a European theatrical tradition in its own right. It is also one of the most prestigious forums which modern Ukraine has established in international cultural circles. It was founded back in 1989 and has since been transforming the streets of Lviv into a theatre every October, providing vivid impressions and creating a true carnival atmosphere.

Lviv has always been famous as a coffee city. Back in 1683 Lviv region native Yuri Kulchytsky founded the first coffee house in Vienna, which was also one of the first coffee houses in Europe. Ever since Habsburg days Lviv has been a regional coffee capital, as famed for the strength of its brews as it was for the cosiness of its cafes and coffee shops.

Comedy show "Varyaty" at "Picasso" club

On September 03, 2010 Lviv’s club - “Picasso” will host humor show „Varyaty” which will present to the audience best examples of traditional "stand-up comedy” by artists from Lviv, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Rivne.

The National Speedway League continues this August at Lviv’s stadium SKA which will play host to a competition between local boys SKA-Favorite (Lviv), Cascade (Rivne), Shakhtar (Chervonograd) and all-star champion Russian team Turbina.

During July 24–25, 2010 in Lviv for the second time will take place “LvivKlezFest” – International festival dedicated to Jewish music, songs and dance with participation of musical and choreographic groups from Ukraine, Poland, Germany, Russia. Klezmer music is a music of Jewish ensembles, which participants did not know the notes but can emotionally express the soul of Jewish people.
