Attention all readers! As part of efforts to improve the government’s public services and bring them into line with European Union standards, a new initiative will see new numbers introduced this month as the first step towards the complete modernisation of these services. Starting from February 18 the national Ukrainian telephone  network will launch new emergency numbers. Old two-digit numbers beginning with ‘0’ will now be prefixed by ‘1’, so that

01 becomes 101.

The list of new emergency numbers will include:

Fire department: 101.

Police: 102.

Emergency medical assistance: 103.
