Improvised Classical Genius at International Festival
“Improvisations” International Festival of Classical Music, June 21 – July 5, Lviv Orang and Chamber Music Hall (8, Stepan Bandera Street)
This summer will see a veritable feast of classical music in Lviv with the second annual Improvisation festival, which attracts a wide range of accomplished musicians from across the world to the cultural capital of the former Soviet Union. Over the past fifteen years Lviv has emerged as one of the most cultural dynamic and active cities in the former Soviet region, and the current city authorities have offered support for a wide range of festivals that have helped to cement Lviv’s status as a leading light in the field of culture and in particular classical music.
This is actually nothing new – for centuries Lviv was the cultural crossroads where the Orthodox East met with the Catholic and Protestant West, and this inheritance has made Lviv a place where different cultures meet and interact in a way that most cities would find hard to match. Participants of this year’s festival will include Russian pianist Andrei Gavrilov, Polish clarinetist Wojtek Mrozek and sensational Lviv pianist Oksana Rapyta, who will perform together with the Lviv Symphonic Orchestra and Olena Gavyuk. The grand finale of the event will be a gala concert by Andrei Gavrilov, who will present the audience with compositions by Beethoven and will be accompanied by the Lviv Symphonic Orchestra.
Tickets are available at very reasonable prices ranging from UAH 20 to UAH 70.
