Lviv theatre’s annual showpiece   event is the early October Golden  Lion International Theatre Festival.   In recent years the event has earned   itself a rising regional profile that has  mirrored Lviv theatre’s gradual  post independence  return to the cultural  riches of the past. The festival’s is  famed for its street parades, which  are  traditionally held to welcome in   and bring the curtain down on each  year’s festivities, with the city’s  stunning  architecture offering the  perfect backdrop for a colourful and  the  atrical carnival that does much to  enhance the cultural ambitions of the  city on a national level.
