One of the more novel innovations  of the 2008-9 Christmas holiday  season in Lviv was a performance of  modern interpretations of traditional  Ukrainian Vertep allegorical theatre  pieces by Lviv contemporary theatre  actors. The performance, which took  place in the hallowed surroundings of  a Lviv cathedral, was further evidence  of a growing trend towards the innovative use of Lviv’s architectural  treasures to enhance the theatre-going experience for the city’s increasingly demanding audiences.
