As part of celebrations to mark Ukraine’s Constitution Day Lviv students hosted a ‘First Lady 2009’ beauty contest in late June over at the city’s picturesque Bohdan Khmelnitskiy Park. Even unseason rain was unable to dampen the enthusiasm of the audience as some of Lviv’s most talented undergraduate students strutted and preened in a show that included both summer dress and bikini sections. The eventual winner was Maryana Pendrak, who studies at Lviv Polytechnic. She was followed in second place by Iliona Voronyak from the Lviv affiliate of Kyiv’s Culture and Art University.
